Hi!

It's been a while since I uploaded something but I've been working hard and I want you to see the results Smile . So, here are my two new projects (still WIP but almost finished) with orchestrated piano-based melodies:

"Something deep inside..."

"The change within"

If you have some time tell me what you think about them!

Thanks in advance,
ac371:D

1. something deep inside --

a. no need for left hand block chords on piano -- either go with single sparse notes or some arpegios
b. too many chords in root position. If you do Dmin (D-), then stay away from playing D-F-A in the left hand or moving to A-C#-E.
c. do some unexpected things like instead of going from D- four beats to A or A7 four beats, hold the D- two beats into the next bar
d. sounded like the violins went from left to right channel unexpectedly at the beginning.
e. I am assume the piano only part is the unfinished part. Consider relying on the other instruments and play just the melody in the piano if you use it at all.
f. Make the string more realistic - use two violin sections, viola and cello. Consider that as appropriate these instruments can play more than one note at a time on adjacent strings. Make sure the cello and or bass line moves as smoothly as possible. For example do jump from D to A to stay in the root.

2. the change within -

a. consider your orchestration -- at any instant, who has the lead... if its the piano, then are the string playing a counter melody or doing chord support
b. the strings seem to make unnaturally sounding jumps at the beginning which suggests they are synthesized or samples and not real sounding.
c. too little on the left side - as with the other piece -- you really too much on the piano --- see my comment on strings.
d. this piece seems to be mostly chords and suitable perhaps as a cue. It was not apparent to me yet what the structure of this piece was or where it was going.

hope this helps.
