Hello!

I will review modern or unusual genres of rock. I'm going to be honest............... Smile

---

In exchange, I expect honest, constructive feedback to my records.
Recently I'm doing different experiments with mixing and mastering, so I need to know how does it sound compared to others.

Hi Ian!

Supercell
I think you listen Deftones! I like the lyrics and very specific colour and articulation of vocals. It creates proper mood and space. Solos are well done. Arangement is simple but good but I think it ends too suddenly.
Sound of acoustic guitar could be way stronger or you could think of adding bass track. First solo at 1:40 sounds really great, you chose the best distortion possible to do it. It sounds awesome but you could remove unnecessary low end. Later, solo guitar changes sound to some narrow, like wah-wah, i think the change is too agressive, those two sounds could be more simillar. The more kinds of sound you use, the worse. Distorted rhythm guitar which comes up after solo sounds good on headphones but its too harshy on small speakers. I dont like distorted voice at all. There are other ways to do it - more resonable. Try using less gain. It's possible to do something interesting with multiband compressor and equalizer too.
To sum up, its very interesting, well performed composition, but it needs a bit more work on recording. This song is difficult to understand. I mean its worthwile but it shouldnt be first track on your album. You didn't mix it perfectly but its doesnt have much tracks so it sounds fine anyway.

Sadistic
Very dynamic stuff with interesting intro. Vocals are not enough loud, try to use some compressor. Lyrics are ok, interesting but hard to get it. (; It sounds more conventional than the Supercell, its easier to understand. At 2:33 you absolutely won, it was cool idea to do this. Your song is very thick and this "HEY" makes things clearer till the end of the song. Solo has again too much low end, you must cut it out. Really cool but it needs some serious work on mixing, to show instruments and vocals more.

Regards
Luke

ok, I checked it:)

For The Strange.
I'm a guitarist and found it hard to understand this sloppy playing as some kind of expression but overall - guitar sounds good. I think if you are not guitarist, you hear it different way. Vocals are very strange but I feel proper precision, they are good. Apart of lot of those false notes it's well-performed music, some people could have serious problems with it though. Your song has several interesting places. Tambourine and overheads, have too much highs, they hurt.

I think this song is good, stuff like 3,5/5
worth listening but not perfect

If you have some extra time here is a commercial Easy Rock tune and an instrumental guitar/keyboard dual song...

Something New

Thanks for taking the time to review these tunes.

I don't know what to think of it. It's sick(lyricsss!) but instruments and noises are really decent, I like them a lot. Whole track makes a whole in very successful way. but its sick.

Elevators
In my opinion, there could be sharper, brighter drums.
I'm not a big fan of electronic music but I believe arrangement is important in every genre. Your track sounds original but I don't like arrangement, in most of tune, not much happens. first big change is 1:30, i think theres too much monothony. Samples are good, I like em.

The first thing I noticed is that you have problem with recording vocals. You have a lot of very bad high end, you should have cut it off or used better microphone. Its well singed, I like lyrics. Arrangement is ok, it sounds "musically adult". Its a good song but no more. It sounds musicially very good but it doesnt have "this badass moment"

Bounty Hunter
... your upload doesnt work...

I hear that you had a good idea. Fast solos are well done, i like some sounds over scale. Really impressive. The slower moments of solo are not that perfect, they are correct though. Technique and performance are cool.

This is good track but mix literally sucks Wink Let it be, I hear keybord but the only reason is that it has way different frequencies from guitar. it makes keybord still present in mix. Solo guitar is barely audible. What to do... you should mix whole thing again, to pick solo guitars up, you can use both equalizer and compressor. It could be good to do the same to the keyboard. Rhythm guitar doesn't sound heavy, its harshy. Next time use less gain and record the same riffs stuff like four times. and then pan them around to make it heavy.

the attention seeker
Really cool drums. I like the way they co-exist with bassline - first theme since 2:40. Vocals are nice, they sound like some indie rock. I feel lack of popfilter but its ok anyway. The arrangement is interesting, the way it evolves. I think there are no cons. hmm maybe with exception of the synth at the end - i hate this colour.

This is a Grunge and modern interpretation of early 90's rock my new band did via online collaboration. Called "Little Miss Preppy."

http://soundclick.com/share?songid=8324924

I am influenced by 80's hair metal, 90's rock and etc. But this song is like I said, a modern interpretation of Grunge by my band DEXTER ROTTEN. I think lyrics are attached.

Let me know what you think. Something's not done yet, a part in the end.

Hi Dude,

Can you tell me what you think of this

http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_songInfo.cfm?bandID=353847&songID=8315647

It is part of my one chord album and is entirely in Dm with a few dropped bass notes.

Thanks

James

Vox are really badly performed and too loud. Guitar doesn't sound analog, I'm sure u used some vst or pod. I don't know what more I can say. I think you shouldnt have published something unfinished yet.

It was a VST guitar amp. Didn't play on this one, just sang. Hey, at least I tried.

Hi.

Thats well done, you created nice space. I like vocals. Instruments sound realistic and they are properly used. The bad side is drumtrack, i think its too bright. I dont like snare around 2:10, its over rhythm and its the only con.
